Our Favourites

These are our favourite place's in Nyköping. Which are your's?
Hellmans

Hellman's

Hellmanska gården (Hellman Farmhouse) in the heart of Nyköping is a true oasis. Treat yourself to a break in the café and check out the farmhouse shop.

The Harbour

Restaurants and cafés line the harbour quay and are open for the summer, with throngs of visitors. Strolling here is just as lovely in the autumn - listen to the waves splash and turn your face to the sun and breeze.

Stroll along the river

The river walk is Sweden's longest museum as well as a lovely outing in a cultural landscape rich in variety. Read the red signs to learn about people's lives in this old town and seat of local government.

Princess

Café Princess is a classic 1950s coffee shop with genuine atmosphere. At Christmas and Easter, the window decorations alone are worth a visit. Fredrik Lindström filmed an episode of "Värsta Språket", his documentary on dialects, here.
Hellmans

Qvarnen (The Mill)

One of Nyköping's best restaurants in one of the town's handsome textile industry settings. The dining terrace is suspended over the river, and with a little luck you'll see salmon jumping here and there.
Hellmans

Bryggeriet (The Brewery)

Bryggeriet is also located along the river. Artists and artisans are housed here in this old brewery along with students in the arts programme. Nyköping's newest gallery is also located here. Don't miss it.
Hellmans

Pelles Lusthus (The Pavilion)

Combine a cup of coffee with an overdose of nostalgia in this 1920s-style shop. The collection of enamel signs and other objects put together by local personality Pelle Nilsson is quite impressive.
Hellmans

Surprice Ice Cream Café and Creperie

This is the place if you appreciate quality in every detail. You'll eat really tasty ice cream and fresh-from-the-pan crepes here. During the summer, our red ice cream bus is parked at the harbour. The atmosphere is international - owner Herman Jan de Boer has brought with him a touch of the Netherlands.

On the town in Nyköping

Nyköping has a well preserved town centre and many lovely places to visit there. Explore the numerous shops, to the east and the west, where you can find little boutiques for second hand, home furnishings and fashion. Or check out one of our more extensive shopping malls. Naturally, there is a wide array of cafés, restaurants and bars.

Fisherman's Cottages

Lining the hill that leads down to Nyköping Castle are genuine fisherman's cottages from the days of old. A little slanted and slightly askew, they are tightly packed together. Well tended by their owners, they give the street a fine appearance.
